Housing

We support young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless by providing safe, secure and affordable housing when they need it.

Grove Court is a brand new housing project run by Woking YMCA in partnership with York Road Project for young people with low support needs. Please click here for more information.

YMCA Housing

The YMCA is the largest voluntary provider of safe, secure and affordable supported housing for young people in England.

With over 140 YMCA’s in 240 communities throughout England, the geographical spread of our work is extensive.

Every night, over 7,200 young people stay at the YMCA. The YMCA is committed to providing a place for young people, particularly in times of need.

We work with homeless young people from a wide range of life experience and backgrounds and this is reflected in the diversity of the YMCA’s provision.

Around England, you will find YMCA’s that offer;

  • Direct access to emergency accommodation for rough sleepers
  • Supported accommodation for young people who might need help in other areas of their lives
  • Self-contained, medium term accommodation for young workers or students
  • Foyer accommodation with training and education courses for residents
  • Move-on accommodation that helps young people live independently

"I pay tribute to Woking YMCA - and its partner organisations - for all their hard work and to the generosity of several local charities, including Woking Round Table, for helping to bring this initiative to fruition. The Big Society is well and truly alive here in Woking, and this successful project surely represents the Big Society in action.” Jonathon Lord, Woking MP
